Wow: deze vrouw heeft een enorme baard en draagt hem met trots!

Harnaam Kaur is 24 jaar oud, houdt ontzettend veel van make-up en heeft een enorme baard. Toen ze 11 jaar oud was werd PCOS bij haar geconstateerd. Voor haar betekende dit dat er heel veel haargroei ontwikkelde over haar hele lichaam. Ze werd hier enorm om gepest en dacht er aan om zelfmoord te plegen.
 
Toen ze ouder werd begon ze haar baardgroei te omarmen. Ze werd gedoopt met het geloof Sikh: een religie die gelovigen verbiedt om het lichaamshaar te knippen of scheren. De sterke vrouw wilde een statement maken en body positivity promoten. Ze wil anderen helpen om zelfverzekerd te worden, vooral omdat ze zich zelf totaal niet zeker voelde toen ze jong was. 
 
Harnaam heeft zelfs mee gedaan aan de #LetterToLittleMe campagne van Illamasaqua. De campagne motiveert vrouwen om brieven te schrijven aan hun jongere zelf, berichten die positief zijn en hartelijk advies. You don’t see your self-worth, you don’t love yourself, and you haven’t embraced the compassion inside you that your soul is waiting for you to unleash,” schrijft Harnaam aan zichzelf. “When will that time come when you unleash the real you? You need to speak louder, hold your head higher, make yourself be noticed, show people that you have a voice.”
 

My whole aim that i had for when my articles were published was to portray beauty in a different light, it was to help women become strong confident and fearless. I wanted to help woman feel love for their own bodies. We are all different, all our bodies are fantastically beautiful in many ways. Few months ago i was contacted by the fantastic kezcoo who has been doing an epidermavision project as part of her final uni project. She bases her photographs on beautiful skin conditions, and my photoshoot with kez was to portray bodily hair, and she done a fantastic job. I have many perfect imperfections on my body, i am hairy..i have stretch marks...i have scars....i have small vitiligo patch and oh my god i love all these little elements..they make me who i am... dear body..i love you!!! Dear Body, Oh my dearest body, i cry as i write you this letter. I am sorry. I shall forever be sorry for all the bad that i have done to you! I have abused you verbally, ive called you the most horrid words that is known to man. I have made you cry, i am sorry for the tears that i made you shed. I have abused you physically. I am sorry for all the times i cut you, opened you up and made you bleed. I am sorry for all the times you looked at me and cried for me to stop, but i didnt. I didnt hear you pledges that you shouted at me for me to stop. Dear body i wanted you dead, i nearly killed you. I am sorry for the suicide that you nearly went through I abused you. Oh dear body i abused you. I am sorry for all the pain i caused you. Some people say you are disgusting and vile, some people call you fat and ugly. Some say you are horrific. Dear body i have now found peace within myself to accept you fully and whole heartedly. I have found the strength to love you 100%. For years and years i abused my body with harsh words, i wanted to kill myself. I used to self harm. I hated my body with a passion and i was bullied horrendously because of it. I have now come to peace with who i am and the beautiful body that i carry. I have realised that no one will ever love and cherish my body the way that i do.
